I have accepted and followed back but it’s only a couple of kids and I never like/comment on their posts

I allow it. I’m really boring so they’re not going to see anything exciting and I like looking at their pictures, they are cute kids doing teenager stuff. It’s really cute.

My kid is now 22, but I still follow about a dozen kids she was friends with back when they all got social media. No big deal.

My kids good friends, absolutely. I love those kids.

You're not going to get much intel from following them. They are savvy enough to know where to share stuff with only their peers. They are just following you in the hopes of getting followers back, as someone else pointed out. I don't think it matters one way or the other, so reciprocate only if you feel like it.

I allow it and appreciate the intel it may provide.

I sincerely hope they enjoy my gardening content! Flowering perennials are the best!

They all have a finsta which is the real stuff. You’re only going to get the curated photos that are their portfolio to get into sororities and pair up with college roommates.

They are doing it so you will follow them. In their world having thousands of followers is some kind of status.

I have declined kids I don’t know well.

It’s fine as long as it inn’t OF.

I have done this with my ES kids on the older platforms like Facebook to see if the parent gave me any red flags based on their online presence. Have only done it a few times for young teen. I wouldn't overtime it. You dont need to follow thrm back if you don't want to

I do and I follow them back if they are a particularly good friend.

But I barely post on instagram and what I do post is really benign and any teen adding parents likely keeps their instagram really clean. I’m sure they have no interest in adding me to their tik tok accts or insta spam accts so I really don’t think it’s a big deal since there is nothing deep and these teens have their own parents on theirs
