Not trying to bash UNC.

Kid just got rejected oos - top 1/600, 1500+ Sat, 4.0 uw, great not elite ECs, etc. And it was totally expected because oos UNC is notoriously difficult. My question is...why do oos kids want to go there so fervently? He applied because it is a great school and he didn't know how the rest of the decisions would play out (they are playing out well, so that's why he's not upset). But, to be honest, what drives the oos kids there when the in-state kids do not have the same kind of elite credentials that the oos kids do.

You know, this was the first school I wasn’t sure about (she is sitting at 9 for 9 for the moment). I didn’t know how much going TO was going to hurt her - some publics like Auburn, UF, and the Texas schools TO makes it practically impossible to get in. Happy to see that wasn’t the case here.

She had a lot of college visits in her future.

Reports online are that the students bond during study abroad and come in with a friend group.

My student I’m coaching got in! She’s in-state, TO, top 10% in her class, first gen, and an exceptional writer.

What is the vibe with the spring global admission? Do kids integrate in Chapel Hill easily in the spring? Anyone have experience with this?
