This is probably the best suggestion to avoid having to drive all the way to Florida. Otherwise, you'd need to find flights for about $300 each and that seems unlikely.

We drove to the Pigeon Forge area last year and stayed at Dollywood. The weather was chilly part of the time and hot part of the time, but Dollywood itself was relaxing.

You can probably fly to Jacksonville pretty cheaply, but you should probably drive somewhere closer to save money for activities and food.

OP here, thank you so much for the great suggestions! I haven’t been to New Orleans in at least 15 years and love the city’s unique vibe, so that really appeals to me.

Will my kids likely end up living off of pbjs and pretzels in the hotel room after refusing to eat any charbroiled oysters, gumbo, crawfish, etc.? Absolutely and they will love it. Will I become “fun mom” who buys them whatever plastic crap they want bc Ill be sipping hurricanes all day while exploring the city? Also a definite yes.

I guess we will be watching Princess & the Frog again soon to prepare 😁

I agree that Vegas would be lots of fun for kids that age -- shows, hikes, Natural Springs museum, aquarium, roller coaster, fountains, random things to see like the lego man and jelly bean statue of liberty, etc. But it is a LONG flight and not particularly relaxing.

What about New Orleans? Do a kid-friendly ghost tour and a swamp tour. Watch the artists in Jackson Square. Go to Audubon Park and the Audubon Aquarium/Insectarium. Ride a streetcar. Relax at the hotel pool.

You might be able to make It to Tucson in that price range. It will be warm and sunny and lots of things to do!

Vegas is a good idea. Look at Costco packages. You can do the nuclear site museum, drive to Hoover dam and do fun pool. Ft Myers or Tampa is also affordable. Some cheap rental houses with indoor pools would be nice and there are aquariums etc to visit.

Hear me out ... there is plenty to do there besides the casinos. Including some awesome natural scenic areas within an easy drive of the city.

You can often find cheap flights/rooms.

San Diego but you'll spend the entire 2k on flights.

I would love suggestions for where to take my 2 elementary aged kiddos for a few days over Spring Break. Ideally somewhere we can fly (which they will like) that is warm and relaxing (which I will like).

We are going to Orlando later this year so that is not an option. I don’t want to spend too much for Spring Break, ideally under $2k for flights/hotel. I have hotel points I can use for a few nights, so the $2k would be for flights and maybe 2 hotel nights.

I know that this is a stretch given how expensive travel has become since the pandemic. Any suggestions are appreciated, TIA!
