Yup it is DEIA the A is for accessibility and they mean disability accommodations (many which are protected by law but with this admin, they don’t really care).

A thousand percent. 504s and IEPs are (normally) about a medical diagnosis - like dyslexia, cognitive processing delays, or ADHD. Students can also have IEPs if they have a disability that has nothing to do with academics. It was just a reminder to all families. And it didn’t say that you MUST disclose it, just that if you want to disclose it you have to provide your approval in writing to your school. Get that chip off your shoulder.

Generally, yes. It provides a more complete picture. It allows them to better see where that IEP instance may have led to discrepencies they may see. (for example, ADHD child's recording 2's in the beginning areas of the report card such as working well with others)

Fairfax County does a lot to tout its ability to identify and work with "Twice Exceptional" students, which would include any AAP student with an IEP.

I really don't see a down-side in allowing them to share (from an admissions point of view).

Did people with no IEPs get this notice?

Mine says the following

“ If you would like the school to share information about your student’s learning disability, accommodations, or a segment of your student’s IEP or 504 Plan, please email the AART and principal of your school to provide written consent.”

Just got a second "Universal Screener Referral" after previously receiving one in December (same kid). This one is much lighter on the details. Seems odd, anyone know what this might be about?
