How would a late start help? The temperature will only increase 3 or 4 degrees over that couple of hours. It will be frigid all day.

If schools are not properly heated, then they should not open. But the ones with appropriate heat can open on time.

We have a Chancellor - not that I have seen anything from him.
He came in hot with lots of press and staff to support his marketing of himself and his projects.
COVID happened and he bowed to everything the mayor wanted.
He fired the principal of the highest performing high school because that person disagreed with the mayor -

So now we have a chancellor who just does what ever the mayor wants.

It would be a lot more efficient to save the money for Chancellor salary - and just acknowledge we have a mayor who makes all the decisions.

If you're concerned, write to the mayor and chancellor...

The point is that DC doesn't have school buses, so all closings related to school buses don't happen here.

But kids waiting outside for public transportation and walking to and from stops is a part of the decision making process.

Hoping DCPS has a two hour delay. It's too cold. The temps tomorrow will be 11 degrees at 7 AM.

No. Go to bed early, prepare food for lunchboxes, scrape your car and sidewalk. It's 100% certain to be an on-time opening.
