Giant in Rockville had plenty yesterday priced between $6 and 10 a dozen depending on type.

Harris Teeter has no eggs when I went Sunday morning. I didn’t need eggs, so I didn’t care, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it tired.

Just to be clear, even farm-raised, pasture-fed, small farm eggs can be contaminated with H5N1 strain. A major commercial egg farm in Georgia just tested positive, so it is going to have ripple effects in shortages/prices for weeks.

The TJs in Columbia had eggs yesterday afternoon. They didn’t have the pasture raised ones though. They only had the “ farm raised” ones. I’m hoping because it’s TJs the chickens are humanely treated but I’m not entirely convinced.

I grocery shop in McLean and Arlington (never TJs because I think it sucks). Wherever I go, there are always tons of eggs. I even saw eggs for 4.99 at Balducci’s, where nothing is ever cheap. Stop shopping at TJs.

That's part of the fun, but I don't live near one with a horrible parking lot or garage and I definitely go at off hours.
Will there be kringle? Will it be a great flavor? Will they have something new to try? Grocery shopping with a twist! Next they should make it into an escape room like ikea.

Trader Joe’s has high standards for eggs and other good they sell. There is a shortage of eggs in the US due to avian flu. Most of the eggs I see in stores with more supply that also have somewhat higher standards for ingredients (e.g. Whole Foods) are usually smaller supply chain/organic/ pasture-raised eggs and $$. Trader Joe’s saves costs by having less inventory and smaller supply chains/private label, but they don’t have as many relationships as larger grocery stores so if their connections are having shortages it might be tough to remedy quickly.

Big sign up saying it was due to national shortages. This is the new bethesda TJ — second time I’ve seen that this month.
