My DH took my teen son and friends to Wisp and are staying in a hotel 30 mins from the resort for $119/night.

This lady is not going to Utah. She’s balking at $300/night hotel rooms.

I mean, I assume you know what you are paying per night now

It was pleasant skiing, far shorter lines than whitetail, liberty, roundup day trips.
However, the hotel was $300/night which seems insane. Is that the going rate for Wisp or Blue Knob or Bear Creek, I know it’s a holiday weekend but still..
Is this typical or are we booking poorly ( I booked in November)?
Should we consider flying to say Canada for even better skiing and maybe not that much high cost??

After you get plane tickets, rental car, convert travel time into time wasted, I doubt you would come out any better. Was the hotel fully booked for mlk and is that the reason you booked back in November? If so, that answers your question about $300 a night.
