It is a very strong university.

University of Missouri- Rolla for engineering is a solid option

University of Missouri Columbia is a wonderful school.

Wash U is fantastic.

ST. Louis University is also a decent school.

Look at William Jewel too.

1350 is a good score in the 90th percentile. Check out the recent thread on places offering the best merit aid. There are a lot out there. Southern parent. Furman, College of Charleston, Wofford come to mind

Missouri University of Science and Tech has very good outcomes for STEM majors.

Some schools offer merit aid that will bring the cost of tuition down. In some cases, significantly, if in the upper quartile of students and/ or have a talent like music for which there is a scholarship. Depending on her test scores, you might take a look at Arizona State. They have a nice honors college and I believe offers some nice merit. Schools like Kenyon, Oberlin, Case Western, College of Wooster in Ohio offer merit aid. Purdue has OOS tuition that is not much more than in-state (for some states) and has scholarships for OOS that brings the cost down.

You can also look at a lot of flagship state universities which give tuition discounts for out of state students with good scores. Alabama, Iowa, Oklahoma are a few that come to mind.

What does she not like about U Missouri-columbia, U Missouri-Kansas City, or U missouri-St Louis?

Geographically, at least, the last two seem like they might be okay, and flagship state universities (columbia) attract really good students constricted by finances. So one of those three might work unless it's a missouri issue...

South Carolina, UMass, UVM give decent oos merit. Look at them.

Private SLAC’s in the Midwest may be generous with financial aid, if she can get her SAT scores up. Wooster, Oberlin, Knox?

You certainly know that other states publics give out merit aid, don't you? It's not about qualifying re: financial assistance/or not. Learn more.

We moved from Virginia to Missouri a few years ago, and now DD (current junior) is unhappy with her in state college options.
We cannot afford to pay out of state tuition. We have done some research and it looks like we will not qualify for financial assistance.
Is there a solution to this? Besides going into debt for DD? Every time we talk about college she ends up in tears.
Please help!
