There are some good vintage authors for this, like D. E. Stevenson or Miss Read.

Elizabeth Strout is a great recommendation.

I think this is Rebecca Thorne's specialty. She writes cozy fantasy like Can't Spell Tea Without Treason.

Legends and Lattes is another cozy fantasy that gets lots of attention.

I don’t know if it’s cozy, exactly, but Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson might fit the bill. It’s funny, and it builds to a quietly moving place — not emotional, but touching in its own way.

I like Nina Stibbe. British, if you like that sort of humour.

Pp - meant to add that the lily king book is more cozy than funny but it felt like a good comfort read while still being really well written

Another Laurie Colwin fan! I feel like I’m the only one who remembers her sometimes. It’s the epitome of cozy.

Sipsworth by Simon van Booy. Not particularly funny, but the definition of cozy as it's the story of an elderly lady in country home in England and a mouse. The whole book (it's short) is basically like curling up on a couch with a mug of tea in novel form.

The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman. It's about love but not a romance in the sense of the bodice-ripping writing style. It's a sweet read.

Anyone have cozy book recommendations? Something like Frederick Bachman or Jenny Colgan? I need some comfort reads.
