Don’t take prob stat take ap stat

Prob stat is like stats for dummies honestly

At least ap stat you’ll actually be with kids who care

Prob stat and discrete math are like where I need one more math but all of them are to hard except these two kids go

The teachers are usually great but the class composition can be I gotta take a class to I’m really gonna work my butt off

At Oakton, Applied Calc is only offered one period so check with your counselor if it is even an option. My average math kid wanted to take this, but was unable to work it in her schedule. She's in Prob/Stat instead.

In college, I took 3-credit Applied Calculus as a freshman Biology Major. When I changed majors to engineering, it didn't count. Had to start with 4-credit Calculus I, then on into the full math sequence.

If she's struggling, it might be the right call. Just doesn't count for as much.

Bumping this. My DC (a senior) is in AP Calc AB and likely not the right class for him. He has done fine in regular math up to now but has a terrible teacher and this may be his limit on math classes. Not going into STEM and not going to apply to a selective college.

Is this class going to be ok for at least show continuation of math? At this point, I do not think he can switch into AP Stats because he will have missed too much content.

My DD is taking that class this year as a junior. She struggled in precalc honors and needs a better base before tackling AP Calc nezt year. She says it is pretty much calculus, but they can use calculators for exams and classwork. Basically, they are learning all the concepts, without the calculation struggles. She enjoys it, and has regained her confidence in math again.
