(i.e., are there words at the top of the page that make it obvious it's the score screen? Is the overall score the only number on the screen, or should I warn her that there will be many numbers and she should just focus on the first(?)/top(?) number? Does it look the same or different for MAP-R and MAP-M? etc)

If she can't figure it out (or if there's no good way to explain it casually without sounding like knowing her score on the test is a Big Deal), I'll just wait for them to show up on ParentVUE like everyone else... but just trying to figure out if there's an easy way to describe to her what to look for!

(For the record, she does not recall having seen a score screen at the end of past tests, but it was already weeks after the most recent MAP test when I asked.)

It is not a big deal. Get a life.

Don’t be so rude. It’s a perfectly reasonable question.

Tell MCPS not to make it an individual's determinant, to provide the data without delay (since it is available and comes out anyway) and to be open with related details.

Then get your own.

My DD's 3rd grade teacher has been writing the scores down and sending it home a few days after both Map M and R are finished but my DD typically looks for the score and tells me.

You can contact the teacher a few days after the test to get the score. That's totally a fair ask of a parent trying to track progress. If you don't have it by the end of the marking period it was taken in, you can gently cc: the principal to ask them to pull the score if the teacher can't do it (phrase it politely, like can't, not won't).

No, the teachers can override so it does not show and that is the policy at some schools and not others. There used to be a barking dog at the end to draw the kids' attention to the score.

My second grader could see his score last year after finish the MAP. but he said he didn't see it on the finish screen of Fall and Winter Map tests in second grade. On NWEA (MAP test site), it said that admins in each state can config to show the final score or not. Maybe MCPS turned off the score option

A third grader is old enough to see the printout of their past scores. Once they know they are looking for a score similar or higher than a 190 or whatever, it becomes obvious to them what to look for.

If they can find the the score, it must be low enough that you should reach out to school for educational support.

Calm down. The score is what it is and you will know it exactly when you need to know it and not one minute before.

Frankly, if the results are made available immediately, I don't know why those scores can't be made available in ParentVUE as well.

My kid proudly told me the screen said she was "average" and she scored 25 points. Very unreliable. I wish they would write it down for parents to see

It’s quite obvious on the screen. Just tell her to watch for the 3 digit number that shows up when she finishes. It’s large and most likely she’s required to leave it on her screen until the teacher writes it down.
