This. I buy the cheap fares now that my kids are older. If you want to sit together with smaller kids you have to buy the ticket with seat selection. Just this summer on our way back there was a family that was split up. NO ONE would switch with them since they all had middle seats not near each other. Their kids were young like 3 and 4. They had to deplane and standbys got on instead. The flight attendants were of no help trying to move passengers around.
