For less snobby try Obertauren, or Zauchensee, beginners welcome and way more chill.

Innsbruck itself has a number of options. Agree with the suggestion of Zell am See - very nice town and the main ski area has plenty of beginner/intermediate runs. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is also pretty gentle but no need to go up there unless you really want to.

We skied at Stubai Glacier outside Innsbrook - they have great snow from October through May. Fairly straight shot out of Innsbrook and I remember plenty of decent (like blue level over here). Literally no gear (other than ski jacket) - they outfitted us with everything in record time. Probably not a ton of true US green but you may be able to check trail map to see.

We used to go to st Anton. For beginners, I would recommend zell am see or lech. Do you have kids and if so how old? With young kids, the kinderhotels are great. They organize the kids into ski school and the kids love it. There are lots of things that are different about European ski resorts, and a main one is that the ski schools and many hotels are booked weekly. You can’t show up on a Wednesday with beginner skiers and put them in a group. The lessons start on Sunday and finish on Friday. If that doesn’t work with your schedule, you can arrange private lessons.

We ski St Anton / Lech. But finding a true “beginner” trail is tough — there are easier trails available, but getting down the mountain almost always requires a few segments of a black equivalent in the U.S. If you can manage it slowly and carefully, that’s fine, but if you don’t think you can make it down, you may want to get a private instructor for a couple days to first teach you where they have the kinder ski school slope, and then to help guide you on the easier trails available. It’s a vast area and not as well marked as in the U.S., but absolutely stunning views if you go on a clear day.

We are going to austria for spring break in March and hoping to ski for a few days. WHere should we go for beginners to ski/ snowboard near Innsbruck or Salzburg? Any other can't miss outdoor activities in that area?
