Housing costs in the entire area are going to be affected. The attorney general just had a press conference on this issue this morning. Also:

Pepperdine survived the Frankin fire, so this one will have zero impact on admissions. But there are upperclassman whose off campus housing has been affected now and in the franklin fire.

This.

Kids I know at UCLA flew home to east coast earlier this week. Classes expected to be on zoom due to faculty housing and living situation for some time.

This will have residual impacts everywhere in SoCal. Some employees have lost everything.

The actual schools themselves are ok but I would assume there is plenty of staff and faculty very affected if not homeless.

My kid applied to UCLA and is applying RD to USC, from a western state that sees fires regularly. No change in desire to attend.

Nothing would be happening to USC. It’s in the middle of the city, and the fire would have to have an affinity towards concrete to reach the campus.

The air quality always sucks in the inland empire whenever there’s a fire, the wind is not our friend; UCLA has better air quality than Pomona right now

Pomona seems safe and mostly unaffected, although I imagine the air quality currently sucks. We're planning on dropping off DS next weekend.

UCLA has not been evacuated. They canceled classes Thursday and Friday, and they are near an evacuation zone. But it has not been evacuated.

USC was a little slow to adjust. It took them two days to realize the smoke wasn’t from a frat party.

I think USC is totally out of the way of the fires and as of now is unaffected? Could be wrong.
