First, its not joint compound. Joint compound is for drywall. Its solder and copper can get pin hole leaks anywhere, not just at the fittings and cause serious issues.

Replaced some of ours with pex. Copper gets pinhole leaks, which we had quite a few and its a huge prolem.

Correct. And PEX isn't UV resistant so it shouldn't be installed where it is exposed to sun anyway.

PEX is known for growing algae inside of it.

We’ve done the research. It’s safe for California houses!!! Just not fire resistant. I shoulda figured this would spin into chaos by the third post.

Yes, our house is 60+yrs old and copper, more so the joints, are starting to leak. No, our house is not moving. Lol.

Gross. PEX has micro plastics. Then you’d need a filter to get rid of it.

Usually you want to go the other direction. If your copper pipes are leaking they are either very old or your house is moving.

Has anyone converted from copper to pex?

If so, how did it go?
Any recommendations?
What did it cost?

We are looking to make the change to a 24 port manabloc with all home runs due to aging copper with persistent leaks.
