Now this is a good point, and maybe a discussion local.officials are having with hotel owners, big conferences, etc

But as a participant and not an organizer, not your call I'd say.

Why? The fires aren't anywhere near downtown LA. Obviously the organizers might want to postpone the conference, but if I were supposed to speak, I would plan on going until they did so.

Depends on the airport, hotel, local transportation, etc. as well as whether the business could just be handled virtually.
