I drink a small amount of diet soda - approximately two of the mini cans per week. I would just alternate with 2 meals with water for every 1 with a diet soda, for this limited vacation.

I’m not that poster but no need to be rude to someone who is factually accurate just because you don’t want to hear that you’re drinking unhealthy junk.

True. But some posters on here never grew up. You should see what they spew when you tell them that alcohol is bad for your health!

"Metabolism" reasons? I avoid it because the acidity is bad for my teeth, and the sugar content is not healthy in the long-term. Since I've been avoiding it for so long, I don't really like to drink soda when I have a taste now, because it feels so strong, for lack of a better word.

But if you like it, sure, a few won't hurt you.

I usually watch what I eat. But I will be on a long weekend cruise girls trip. Soda is included in the fare. I don't drink though other people on the trip will be drinking.

Would you keep avoiding diet soda? Or make exception for this short weekend trip, such as in lieu of dessert or cocktails?

If you are watching your calories, would drink soda water or seltzer with lime/lemon twist. You can also pack some crystal light packets if you want fruit flavor with no sugar. Diet soda seems harmless but may induce eating unnecessary processed carbs such desserts.

Crystal Light has the same effect...

Sparkling water with lemon and lime or with a splash or OJ or cranberry juice.
