Subject: When someone tries to leverage emails that don't exist
Hi Linda, I genuinely don't have any record of those emails. Could you kindly re-forward them so I can access them and address the situation? I searched X, Y, and Z for this date range, even spam, and did not find them. I am wondering what may have happened. Thanks!

I intend to play dumb - I don't have a record of that. In case it landed in spam, please resend.

Client says I sent numerous emails on this issue.
There are 0 emails except that email. Very easy to know and pull that information.
Client explicitly is asking for free work several months after a project ended.

I don't get it. Emails are such an easy thing to pull. Why in the world would someone try to threaten someone over emails that don't exist?
