Who ever says Chicago is superior to Penn is daydreaming. I have a kid headed to Chicago, but he would have taken a spot at Penn in a heartbeat. (Am dismayed to learn about the shaky finances, fingers crossed it won't have much impact).

It does seem that some schools just don’t have much of a culture of alumni giving, and that is a relevant factor to look at when evaluating the financial health of a school (vs. just looking at endowment).
