As a parent, I would LOVE this. Middle of the day birthday parties pretty much means my plans for that day revolve around the birthday party and we have to stay home or close to home for the whole day. Instead of wasting two weekends on birthday parties, going to two in one day would be ideal. I’m sure other parents agree.

I have been in situations where DD was invited to two parties on the same day. Most people RSVP’d yes. We said No because DD would be way too tired and cranky (she had other activities that day too).

Op here. Thank you. This is why I posted. It's good to get different perspectives. It's not a competition not should it be. I just want all the kids to be happy.

+1. We had this situation for years. My son spent a few of his birthdays at the other kid’s party. We had his party the next day or next weekend.

Now, younger DD shares a birthday with a good friend. Friend sent out an invite first, so we are having her party a different day. This is really not a big deal. Most of the time, the actual birthday is on a week day anyway.

Please don't do this.

It is extremely rude for you to put mutual friends in a position that they have to choose.

I would pick the first invite that was sent out and judge you horribly.

Your DS would likely be disappointed in his headcount.

I would add that this isn't intentional and it's not the same kid that the conflict has arisen with. We're not friends with the other kids so it's just happened without really knowing that there would be conflicts. I wouldn't intentionally create a conflict!

You definitely can’t do 1:30-3:30. I might do 2 parties on a Saturday if they were spaced out-like 11:30-1:30 and 3-5 or something.

Great idea. If you don’t want anyone to actually show up. No one is going to go from one birthday party to another. Pick another day

If you want people to go to his party, pick a new day. Say "Sorry Larlo, Larla's invites already went out. Why don't you celebrate her at her party, we will do a family party that night and we will party with your friends next weekend?"

I’d have a family event (special day trip?) on his birthday and his party a week later. Two parties two days in a row of same day is too much.

DS turns 8 later this month. He wants to have a party on his actual birthday which is understandable. However, a classmate (and friend) has the same birthday and her party invitations already went out (DS was invited). The party will be on their birthday from 11-1:30. DS wants to have his party from 1:30-3:30 (if we decide to do this, he will have to leave her party early and he knows this). However, I keep thinking that this puts their classmates and friends in a situation where they have to choose which party to go to and likely some people have already RSVP'd to the other party. I think we should postpone his party by a day but he seems resistant to the idea. I feel like I am overthinking this and spending too much time worrying about a party and how many kids will show up! What would you do? Which day would you have the party?
