We only stopped and saw Sloss Furnaces on a drive through, but that is well worth seeing, spectacular site.

Jack's is an AL fast food chain with great chicken strips, kids loved it.

The stats are for cities with 100,000 to 249,000 population. But, for every 1,000 residents, Birmingham is the murder capitol of the country even surpassing New Orleans, Memphis, and Detroit.

Should read" per every 100,000 residents", not 1,000--even though that is also accurate but not how the FBI states this fact.

OP here. We chose Birmingham for a new city for us both. We're planning on visiting the Civil Rights stuff, seeing a UAB bball game, have a tour to go caving 30 minutes outside of the city centre.

We're also going to visit the Science Center, Sloss Furnaces, the Motorsport Museum, and the planetarium to name a few.

Was just there. You will need a car. Curious why you chose to visit there? I was down for work but took a couple of hours to see 16th street Baptist church and the jail. Pretty empty down town.

Extractions, haha

More extractions than attractions in Alabama, I’ll bet!

Hi everyone,

My 9 DS and I are going to Birmingham over President's Day weekend. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? We'd like to be at a hotel with tremendous walkability to restaurants and extractions.
