How so?

+1. You only have a case if they charged extra for a view room.

I think it depends on if this is a large chain hotel, or something smaller Did you pay for a premium view? I think you could probably get that portion refunded. If it’s a Hilton or something, they might give you some points for a future stay.

I don’t know. If the room with a view was significantly more than the room without a view, which is likely, it seems like the hotel is acknowledging that part of the value of the room is the view.

Sure. But what if OP booked the room months ago when construction hadn’t started? How would the hotel be responsible for something that isn’t in their control?

What if it was foggy the entire time OP was there? Should they get a refund for weather obstructing their view?

No this is happened to me before. Same response from management.

A hotel doesn't own the adjacent properties. They can't control that. And I have never been to a halfway decent hotel that in some way, shape or form that construction was going on.

FFS no. You are not entitled to an unobstructed view.

If the owner refused a discount they are definitely going to challenge a dispute. And I think it'll be hard for OP to win. She used the hotel for what it's designed for. It's not like she wasn't able to sleep in the room or anything because of said construction. She just wasn't able to enjoy the view as she saw fit. You were still able to see some of the view around the crane I would imagine.

Who is doing the construction? The hotel?

Would you be able to take and post photos with your review and paid price of room?

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. Loser though.

I booked a hotel known for its views. When I arrived, there was construction going on in front of the hotel, with a massive crane directly in front of my balcony. When I objected to being charged the full amount, due to noise and obstruction of the view, the hotel owner basically told me to piss up a rope. Is there any recourse here? Thank you.
