Have on my shelf but haven't read yet:
The Love Songs of W.E.B. DuBois
Angela's Ashes
Maus

Going to look into:
Did You Ever Have a Family
The Yellow Wife
The Burning
Man's Search for Meaning
Prophet Song
Galveston

Keep the recs coming!

Just to warn you, I recommended Galveston. It is very violent and dark. And I would skip Angela's Ashes it is relentlessly miserable and overly long.

If you try The Burning, I'd be curious what you think. I haven't seen any discussion on the book.

What author for The Burning? I see a few different books with that title.

Wave was gut wrenching. I still think of that book.

Another one that comes to mind is Did You Ever Have A Family.

I thought your title meant the physical book weighed a lot. I was going to suggest a Kindle!

Currently reading Soldiers and Kings: Hope and Survival in the World of Human Smuggling and wrapping up Cobalt Red: How the Blood of the Congo Powers Our Lives. I loved books like A Little Life and Wave.

What books do you like in this vein?
