Mostly, people are just not broad thinkers. They don't think ahead or about details. Most people simply aren't that bright.

We had three cars in our driveway and it made shoveling a lot easier, actually.

Yes, but you might not have much of a choice and the risk is worth it.

The cars on the street actually keep those spots cleaned out of snow and will not need shoveled.

The driveway is a single lane yet they have 2 vehicles. They don’t want one blocked by the other in case one doesn’t start, so they park one on the street.

My driveway is a big hill. We wouldn’t be able to get the car out very easily if it’s icy, so we put it on the street ahead of snowstorms.

I don't live on a snow emergency route and half the houses on my street park on the street (out of necessity or because they just want to) anyway. Our driveway is off an alley that will not be plowed at all -- the neighbors will have to get out there with shovels ourselves to clear it. So I left my car on the street because the plows won't be able to plow curb to curb anyway and I don't my car to get trapped in my driveway behind an alley that will likely take several days to dig out.

People are stupid and don't know how to deal with snow. We have a ton of neighbors who don't park in their garages because they use them for storage. If I were one of them, I would have spent the day clearing out my garage so I could fit at least one car in there.

I agree. I will say my teen son parks on the street all the time because both my husband and I need to be able to get out of the driveway. And my son stayed parked there until 10pm. So he did move his car up into the driveway. Just late.

Yes put in driveway if you don’t have a garage. This allows snowplows to clean the streets and if it snows a lot to not have your car snowed in.

I noticed that many of my neighbors in the DMV are leaving their cars on the street when there is room in their driveway with a forecast of up to a foot of snow.

The snow plows need the space to clear the streets.

And the people will have to dig out their car from the snow from the plows.
