Vicks!!!!

Kept nails very short, trimming almost daily. And daily vinegar soaks for a couple of weeks followed by every other day for another week or so, followed by every three days for another week or so. Followed by tea tree oil each day for quite awhile.

I used Jublia for over a year, and it did not work.

+1 to oral meds. I took the full course religiously and it worked. I did have a recurrence a few years later, and that time I didn't mess with the topical stuff-went right in for the meds.

PSA: the meds alter the way your urine smells (or at least did for me). Not in a bad way, but noticeable.

Unfortunately the oral meds don’t work either. I know some people that had eventual success with Vicks but the fungus came back right after they stopped oral meds.

I tried Vicks and it did nothing, actually made it worse as the clear portion closest to the nail bed then got infected. I did find using a lot of Tolnaftate cream at least made the clear section expand but you can't miss even a couple of days. I never tried any pharma grade stuff, yet.

Vicks works.
So does tea tree oil under the nails if they are lifted. But be careful. DH got contact dermatitis. I didn't.

Yes, I had it for a couple years but got rid of it eventually and my nails now are all completely normal.

I did use oral meds as well as topical treatments.

Vicks vapor rub 2x day, tea tree oil. Did this for about 6 months. Took care of 90% of it.

Feeling defeated with recurring toe nail fungus. Have tried prescription creams and OTC treatments that have made it better but then it comes right back. Will be starting oral Terbafine this week.

Has anyone been able to get rid of stubborn nail fungus for good? If so, what worked?

I have onychomycosis, which apparently is the most common kind of nail fungus. Pretty sure I got it from the indoor pool at my gym.

Open to any and all ideas!
