It will never not blow my mind how DC closes schools *in anticipation* of snow, like we're about to be hit by a hurricane or something. We can't at least wait until morning to see if, you know, the roads are actually bad? The only dramatic weather we get is the humidity. DC has a such a hair trigger for closing schools.

I bet teachers and staff have to commute further than they used to to DCPS because housing is so expensive now

It's barely going to get above freezing all week, if it does at all. Any snow that falls is going to stick around.


Yes, but we have snow plows so we can plow the roads. Once upon a time, this city actually got snow, so we should still have the infrastructure to clear it, I hope.


DC hasn’t gotten consistent snow for a while now. It’s easier to just close school for two days then pay to upkeep all of that infrastructure.

There will be no school Tuesday if models are right. Prepare for the worst hope for the best. I think we will be back in action on Wednesday. Hope not but that’s what this looks like. It’s not going to finish till late and will be cold so not much melt.

Duh.

DCPS tends to stay open for weather more so than MCPS or FCPS, so stay tuned for Tuesday. But MCPS and FCPS are sure to be closed on Tuesday too.

So probably no school in DC publics tomorrow, right? This forecast is sounding like at least a few inches are guaranteed and that it will be too cold to clear the roads in time for just a delay, even if the snowfall is more of a bust?

My kid actually hasn't returned to school yet this year due to a respiratory virus last week. If we got on the high end of the predicted snowfall (9-10 inches) would the potentially close school for multiple days? Trying to figure out how to approach work this week, as I'm remote and won't get time off for snow.
