There is almost no ski in-ski out at Sun Valley. The resort is a bus ride away, as is the town. I love SV but I don’t think it fits OPs request. Deer Valley would be a good choice though.

We just stayed in the Westin villas at beaver creek, it was great, elevator brought you up to the gondola.

We live in Co now and my kids ski race. The manor lodge in vail is across the street from the vail ski team club. They have their own lift and it’s a great location, but seems lesser known. And it feels just ‘cool’ to be where so many legendary racers have skied!

Not Vail or BC but consider the Sheraton in Steamboat over spring break.

Re: the other two, I like BC better.

I really enjoyed the Vail Raquet Club. Yes, there is a shuttle, but it is steps from the unit and one of the first pickup points so we always got a seat. About 15 min to Vail Village and you walk to the gondola. Lots of great amenities including 3 hot tubs, heated outdoor pool, steam room, sauna and a really great on site restaurant. We could have driven every day, but the shuttle was a breeze and it comes every 15 min.

We are creekside in beaver creek and it’s great! Also, for a less expensive stay, look at the Charter in BC.

Beaver Creek Lodge is wonderful and reasonable (all things considered) - it is as close as you can get (unless you do the Ritz Batchelor Gulch or BC Park Hyatt). You can bus to Vail if you want to ski there - 30 min but it’s a haul. BC is quiet and you can apres at the Ritz if you want a taste of that scene.

Yep! Beaver Run at Breckenridge. Much better than all lodging at Vail and Beaver Creek. You can walk to town and you are ski in ski out. It doesn't cost a fortune and it's definitely worth the convenience. It's truly the hidden gem. It's not super luxurious, and for a family it's the sweet spot.

I’ve stayed at both but haven’t been to either in awhile, but my recollection is that beaver creek is more contained with more traditional ski in-ski out accommodations. Vail is more of a “village” and accommodations require walking or a shuttle. Pretty sure we stayed at the pines lodge in BC and vail cascade in vail (which had a shuttle and maybe was ski in? I don’t remember.)

Same with a trail guide (to see how far away the trail/kift is for a ski-in/out)..

Ski in/ski out is a premium. And you want it at V or BC to boot. You'll have to increase your budget or scale down your expectations.

Fwiw, we stayed in Avon. Shuttles were easy, convenient, and nice.
And you we even took the shuttle between V and BC so we got to try out both places w/o dealing with parking.

+1. Ski in/out is a premium at both places. Hope you have a big budget.

Maybe look at Golden Peak area in Vail. There is a lift from that side.

It depends if you want to be in the village of either place or in a more remote location. I prefer village for evening activities/dinner.

Consider the Sonnenalp at Vail. It isn’t ski in ski out but they have a ski room at the ski base where you leave your equipment at the end of the day and change into in the morning. They have cookies and cocoa in the ski room. You do have to walk to the hotel from there but it’s a short walk through the village.

Ritz BC is probably the easiest ski in ski out.
