Lol I did too, the moment I got pregnant. Unfortunately I tried to go back 2 times when my kids were younger. It was stressful!

I work at a private school and staff kids are allowed to attend before care for free and they have a separate aftercare that is also free for an hour after school. That allows staff to fulfill their contract hours without paying anything. I can take a meeting, grade or prep for the next day.

I'm a FTM due in April and I suspect this will be me, too. I'm going to try to make it work, but I'm not feeling confident. Sigh...

I left the classroom.

My kids are in college now. But when they were in elementary, I'd dismiss my class at 3, work at school til 4 p.m., then pick my kids up from their school at 4:30. I'd work after they went to bed for at least an hour and then another few hours on the weekend. And I'd go into work early in the mornings too, to get stuff done. It was endless. I finally got to where I just didn't have the energy or desire to put in those hours anymore. Now, I arrive just 30 minutes before the day starts and I leave immediately at the end of the day. I *might* put in one hour of work a week total at home. It's the bare minimum. Wish I'd done that when mine were in elementary.

I stop my kid off at his school for before school care at 7am. I have to be at my school by 7:30. I usually leave school right at 2:45 to pick him up at his regular dismissal time. Two days per month we have after school faculty meetings so he stays at the after school program until 4 when I pick him up. I rarely bring work home.

I paid for my child to go to aftercare at a martial arts studio a few days a week. Having afternoon care has made a difference.

I’m not an elementary teacher but what I see happen at my kids school, is that after school all the kids of the teachers play on the playground for like an hour, rain or shine seemingly (I know this because my kids and others also like to do this). Then their parents trickle out anywhere from 45-60min after dismissal to take them home. So I’m assuming that’s when they are doing their grading and planning etc
