Any normal, rational person with any critical thinking skills is atheist,

I think what some of you are objecting to is those who are anti-theist. I don’t like them either — unless they can make the case what harm does religious belief do?

Just as it was claimed above, that “the internet has been one of the biggest support mechanisms for those seeking to lose the burden of faith”, so it is also a resource of rational, cogent argument in defense of Christianity.

Well then you should post those arguments here because the theists here to a p*ss poor job of it.

It's not about "changing your mind" it's about getting confidence to go against societal pressures and embrace what you know to be true, logical and rational. Knowing that there are others out there, and hearing their expressions of logic and reason is what gives many the confidence to "come out of the closet" and give up useless and damaging bronze age beliefs.

I’m always reminded of a line from the movie Angels and Demons where Tom Hanks’s character is asked by the priest whether he believes in God. And Robert Langdon says “No father, that’s a gift I haven’t received.”

That’s me. Just not genetically predisposed to believing in the supernatural.

I feel like as religion is more of an inheritance or learned behavior than a personal choice, people are often as protective of it as blood relations with or without much reason.

I think this only happens through lived experiences, not on forums. Except for those who get radicalized.

I haven't noticed that. Could be that some atheists here were once Evangelical Christians themselves and are really angry about the negative effect that religion had on them.

Have discussions on this religion forum influenced you either away from or towards religion? If away, how? And if towards, which religion and why?
