I remember this exact scenario from before, including the OP calling it a "nickname." OP might not be re-posting, because I can imagine this happening over and over -- unless, have you posted before, OP?

Calling someone a name to tease them isn’t a nickname. It’s teasing, and if repeated and especially if it’s mocking their ethnicity or a “different” name, it’s bullying. 4th grade boys are not doing anything innocently and you shouldn’t tolerate this, nor should DS.

Report it to the classroom teacher, and if it continues, escalate and report it to the vice principal or principal.

This is called bullying, not "jerks".

Put your kid in athletics she can physically command respect.

My son tells me that 2 school kids team up to laugh and tease at his last name. They give him a new nickname. There's nothing wrong/weird with his last name and we are not Americans. I happen kind of know those kids' mom because they are all at the same sport team, same school and after school activities. They are just jerks, and I tell my son to ignore them. I don't understand why some kids would laugh at other kids' last name. He is a 4th grader, and I decide to step off. Are there books or websites recommendation that I can show my son to ignore jerky behaviors or speech?
