Agree. We don’t subscribe to any religion. I homeschool using a classical education model- it’s the best.

If you're in Montgomery County, you can also try Peaceful Worldschoolers. There are Friday field trips, and if you join the What's app groups lots of ways to connect to other like-minded families.

FWIW, neurodiversity on a whole just isn't as obvious to most other kids who are meeting up in homeschool groups. There are mixed ages, parents are around, and it just ends up being a bit less apparent overall. Just my opinion, speaking from three years of experience with my own kid around the DMV.

Montgomery County Homeschoolers on FB. Most people are really nice; just talk about your son's interest and suggest a meet-up, and you can start to get to know folks.

Hi OP, we don’t homeschool, but when I take my youngest out to playgrounds etc I see many kids who sound similar to your son who seem to be doing homeschool “recess” (I’ll see the parents take them on, like, a nature walk after they play or I’ll see them doing workbooks at picnic tables). We aren’t in your area (Howard county) but it makes me think your situation must be relatively common - good luck finding your people.

PP again; you could also post on one of the local Facebook groups (like "Homeschooling in Nova" or "Secular Homeschooling in Nova") to try to find like-minded families. There are a number of special needs families in the homeschool community.
