My #1 tip for traveling to madrid with a 3 year old: bring a stroller even if your 3 year old is a good walker. Travel by metro and use the elevators (follow the handicap signs/use metro stations that have a handicap icon indicating that they are elevator accessible)--don't deal with all those stairs/escalators with a new walker.

Watch out for pick-pockets on metro/bus/in crowds when you're running after the 3 year old and juggling all your stuff.

The weather will probably be really nice and just being there in the plazas and sunshine will be 100% nice. Have fun!!
