While I think any celebration of any kind is in poor taste that day, it might be a welcome distraction.
Normally, it’s a day of service but that may prove impossible due to traffic etc

Would your family have plans that would conflict with us? Perhaps traveling out of town, watching the inauguration, or doing a service project?

Yes, I would also help if you need any volunteers with the party. Staying away from the news that day.

Your kid has school on Martin Luther King Jr Day? Is it a segregationist school?

This would work for us - both parents have the day off and the day of service that we usually do is rescheduled to over the weekend due to the inauguration.

We would be available and happy to attend. But i think youll get more conflicts with the inauguration than mlk day.

Shouldn’t you ask that question to the people you want to invite? What difference does it make if a bunch of strangers could attend a party they aren’t invited to?

Would your child be able to attend a fourth grade birthday party on January 20th say 12-2? It would entail, eating lunch, playing laser tag, singing, happy birthday, and departing.

Would your family have plans that would conflict with us? Perhaps traveling out of town, watching the inauguration, or doing a service project?
