I do everything I can to dissuade my kid from embracing Uber Eats and similar delivery models. I honestly try to not be judgmental about other’s money habits, but the damn bursts when I hear stories about her peers using Uber Eats for an order of fries or a donut and coffee.

The money wasted… It’s the bridge too far for me.

Many college students don’t have cars and they may not be close enough to walk to places.

Maybe get him Dash Pass (so he doesn’t incur delivery fees) plus a $50 gift card.

A kid with no car -- DS goes to a NE school. There were several times he returned from weekend outing club events just as dining halls were closing on Sunday evenings. There was not much walking distance from the school (Walgreens, Chinese) He could order a pizza (which was getting old) -- but several times he opted for Panera using door dash

May as well send some heroin.

$50 is good. If they do it regularly that's a bit absurd given the fees.

We would give $150 for a Christmas gift.

I got a $50 gift card from DoorDash and we ordered two separate orders. One from Panera and one from a pizza place. I think I went over the amount by $3.

$50 is very generous. My DS would love you. He was ecstatic with a $25 card he was given -- it will not go to waste. As a policy, we do not subsidize his doordash (only on bday and superbowl), we pay enough for dining hall services

My DD would be happy with any amount including $50. Give whatever you are comfortable with- it will be used and appreciated!

I’m seeing my college student nephew tomorrow, and plan to gift him an uber eats e-gift card for Christmas. What’s a reasonable amount? I never use food delivery services but my sister tells me there are a lot of fees so you can’t just give $50 and expect them to be able to order 2 meals from it.
