I took one to NYC. Never again. I was so uncomfortable.

Maybe I’ll make an exception for an airplane, which loses luggage often enough.

I had one like this (no waist strap) before, and now that I have one with a waist strap, will never go back. It's so much more comfortable with the waist strap because it distributes the weight more evenly and reduces strain on your shoulders.


100%^this. The waist belt makes or breaks a backpack. Having the weight distributed vs your shoulders and neck taking the weight- your body will thank you.

Personally.think the Osprey Farpoint or Fairview is the best bang for the buck. Peak Design 45 liter is great but $$$ unless on sale.

Which one do you use? I’ve seen some nice backpacks lately traveling almost hiking styles but without those metal bars.
