Op here. Thanks for all the responses. Paris seems like the obvious choice, but we’ve been many times. Perhaps a few days in Amsterdam would be fun. Or Ireland.

Paris is a great fit with London if that interests you.

I’d split time. You could do Paris or Edinburgh if you want to do another country - take the train between and fly into London and out of the other city to reduce travel time.

Or go elsewhere in England. I’ve been to the Cotswolds in November and it’s lovely, although you will want a car. The Lake District is also a good destination, as is York/Yorkshire.

London is awesome. Just leaving today - a 10 day trip with my HS senior - we spent the first 7 in London and will be spending the last 3 in Ireland. (Wasting time in the airport).

Six days was enough. We haven’t experienced all London has to offer, but have loved what we have seen. Ultimately, after a few days any city will feel routine, and exploring should feel new and vibrant.

Have a blast in London for 4 or 5 days then check out a region or city near by… there are plenty!

I would get sick of London for that long. Take the Chunnel train to Paris for a few days. The experience on the train is part of the fun.

I would go elsewhere. My favorite parts of every England trip are the non-London parts. Yes, you can do daytrips, but daytrips are exhausting.

I guess you really don’t appreciate the culture of cities. OP, it depends on how well you want to get to know London and how relaxed a trip you would like.

We are going in October and staying for 10 nights. We are staying 3 nights in London and then on to Stonehenge with a night in Bath and then onward to several non-London locations. Haven't totally decided yet; Oxford, the Cotswolds, a castle stay, and Stratford-upon-Avon are all possibilities but I don't think we have time for all of them -- not to stay at all of them anyway.

London is pretty amazing though, you could definitely stay for 9 nights and not get bored of it. And a lot of things, like Stonehenge or Oxford, can be done as day trips from a London base.

+1 I would do 2-3 days at least somewhere else. You could do Oxford/Stratford Upon Avon/Blenheim pretty easily in a 2-3 day trip.

Thinking of going to London November 2025. We will have 9 nights. We are trying to decide if we should stay in London the whole time, or spend 3-4 of the nights somewhere else.
