I’d cancel the date. That’s super sketchy. Even if he’s a decent dude, he didn’t have good social skills. You cancelling the date over this is good feedback for him if he’s awkward and potentially save your life if he’s crazy.

Don’t do it. I once set up a date with a guy I later found out had attempted to murder a women who dumped him. I am VERY thankful he never saw my car or where I lived.
He can Uber. If he can’t, don’t go out with him. Not worth the risk. And even if he’s fine, it means he’s not willing to spend $30 for a date, which is lame and cheap.
