The first one spoiled me. A 1999 Outback wagon that went 230k miles, was built like a brick s-house, and was still running 100% when we traded it.
Didn’t have one for about a decade, then got a 2004 Forester in 2009. Within a year it was leaking oil out both cylinder heads. So much oil leaking it was fouling the plugs and misfiring.
Junked that one and got a 2013 Crosstrek. Needed to replace several wheel hubs and both front axles and the transmission was acting up when we traded it in for a 2018 Forester.
The Forester was great until it hit 70k miles, and the transmission started having problems.
The only good one we had was the first one. I admit it, I got taken. I bought into all the advertising BS.
