What does this even mean? USC is a selective institution. If it’s so easy to get into, have your child apply as a safety.

The article also mentions a massive budget deficit, but I guess we’re all blind today
Lots of good schools have large budget deficits and are looking to save money. Some ways of saving money may be more visible than others.

My guess is that USC achieved what it wanted to do with NMF scholarships over the last 20 years - ie become a desirable school for high stats kids. It has done that and it no longer needs to give away such a deep discount. The article actually says that the school is looking to divert funding to more underprivileged applicants. That’s a good thing in my book

You really must be out of the loop. The college is in a pretty bad financial decision and has been making deep cuts for over a year. Having a lot of money in the endowment can’t save you from day to day operations and billions in lawsuit damages.

This is real concerning. You only cut this type of funding when you are running out of the pot. Guess they finally get to see the brunt of that $1bn sexual harassment lawsuit. Why anyone would send their daughter to usc is beyond me.
