Tumi is another option. Mine is probably 15 years old at this point and good as new.

I'm the pp who linked to Away, after looking online for my Tumi carryon to link to but realizing it's probably been discontinued. Like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/156593025569

It's also 15 years old and going strong!

The softside Away lugguage looks great, but seems so heavy if you travel internationally where there are more strict weight limits. Their smallest carry-on is 9.2lbs empty and holds 37L, while my travelpro lite holds 39L and only weighs 5lbs.

I open my hard sided carryon on the luggage rack like a book, with the “spine” perpendicular to the rack.

But I also always unpack, I guess? I usually use the suitcase to collect laundry.

Like PP, this is why I stuck with soft side luggage. Grab last years model at TJ Maxx. Rinse and repeat when necessary.

That’s why I have stuck with soft side luggage. I currently have Travelpro.

I also like it zipping at the top. I just got a Samsonite soft case.

I suggest you take a look at OGIO. I have a carry-on size with two wheels which is roomy and easy to open and leave on a luggage rack. They do have four wheel versions too.

Looking for new luggage. I bought a Monos hard side. I don’t like how it zips open it the middle, with about 50% on each side of the zipper. It does not work well on a luggage rack because you really have to unpack the top part. It seems to assume that you are going to unpack your luggage (or at least half of it).

For carry on in particular, I would like the zipper to be closer to one side so I can put it on a luggage rack and keep most things in the bag.

Am I alone in this? Any recommendations? I was warming up to hard sided but am flexible.
