Take the cog railway up to the top of Pike’s Peak.

Garden of the Gods shouldn’t be missed!

It’s a little bit of a drive, but the Royal Gorge bridge is really neat. It spans the Colorado River. You can cross the bridge, but you can also take an “inclinator” down to the river. Pretty neat!

Seven Falls is a little on the touristy side, but it’s an experience. If you make the hike all the way up, there’s a great view of COS from up there, and it’s super quiet since hardly anyone makes the trek.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is also nearby and could be of interest to your kids.

Where are you planning to fly in/out and how much time do you want to spend driving?

It can be hot in Colorado Springs then or if we're lucky it will thunderstorm in the afternoons in late July.

Colorado is a huge state. The Great Sand Dunes in the southern part of the state is one of my absolute favorite National Parks, really a hidden gem. Rocky Mountain National Park is great for all ages. Mesa Verde in the SW part of the state is cool too, but kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

You know the cliff dwellings are fake, right?

Black Canyon of the Gunnison is an under-rated national park. It's phenomenal! You can drive down to the bottom (can also hike if you are in excellent shape, but I think you need to get a permit and they can sell out fast.)
You'd want a smaller car to drive to the bottom (not an RV or something)

We enjoyed Pikes Peak, also went to Vail (summertime is beautiful), Red Rocks and did a day trip to Cheyenne, Wyoming for a rodeo.

We are thinking of visiting Colorado for one week at end of July with 3 kids, ages 15, 13 and 10 next summer. We were going to finish our trip in Colorado Springs. We have never been there before-any ideas where to go? Thanks!
