This would be the smartest thing to do. Pretty sure Northwestern and JHU do this. I would be surprised if the RD rate drops to 6%. So what Harvard was 5-7 ish years ago.

My guess is that IF they don’t want to increase percentage of class filled through ED, they’ll defer a lot and some will be admitted RD. Might be an advantage there over regular RD applicants because of yield, making RD more competitive for non-ED applicants.

Emory fills such a large percentage of its class ED you wonder with such a massive increase in applications if they will fill even more. It makes so much sense if you have wonderful applicants there is no need to guess with yield in the regular decision process.
