+1

Two weeks is more than normal - it’s in the grading policy actually - Some might enter them more frequently if they don’t provide any feedback.

Sounds like a planner might be helpful? They usually give them out at each school.

If your kid has a D that means they didn’t start the quarter off well. The teacher already put the grades in for interims.

Don’t harass anyone anymore about grades. No one can do anything except the teacher. And obviously they know about it. And will do it.

I suggest involving the counselor.

Imagine dealing with this and your kid has ADHD so never know if they turned in stuff if not.

No, grades need to be put in weekly. Teachers should send a weekly email to parents on assignments and what they are learning.

No, they shouldn't. Do you have any idea how many emails that would amount to, depending on the teaching assignment?

If the policy is to enter grades every two weeks, then that's how often they should be entered. Op could ask the principal how often grades are supposed to be updated.

There is a rubric for grade 'due dates'. This should be decisive.

Biweekly grade input is what most schools ask of teachers.

How did she not know she was missing assignments, wasn't there a due date? Does she keep track of assignments on her own, or rely on being able to look online?

You won't change the way this teacher does things. Have your dd keep better tabs on turning in her work, and check in with the teacher every couple of weeks.

I'm sitting next to a teacher right now who is awful at grading and entering marks. Everything he does is last minute.

Yeah get used to it. What we’ve seen is that my DD who checks in regularly with her teachers always knows her exact grades. But my boys did not.

One more thing. Your daughter may get good grades in some classes, but she has terrible habits if she failed to turn in four assignments on time and now has a D. Good thing she’s only in 6th grade because you have time to work on this with her. Not all teachers accept late assignments without grade reduction.

Routinely ask her to double check if she has handed things in. She should not be missing submitting so many assignments. Some teachers will not chase students to get work turned in.

Get used to it. There are MS and HS teachers who do this, and they won't change just because you don't like it.

Have your daughter send the teacher an email asking for a copy of her graded assignments and including getting an update on the missing assignments they previously spoke about. Have her copy her counselor.

Given that it’s interims she should be able to fine out where she stands.

My 6th grader has a Technology elective this quarter and the teacher is not posting grades for 2-3 weeks at a time. First month of the quarter there were no grades posted or entered. Then one day during at the beginning of December, weeks of grades show up and my daughter has 4 missing assignments that average her grade out to a D. She found the missing assignments and turned them in. She also asked the teacher the next day if she would be able to get credit and the teacher said that he would "grade them and put them in." Here we are three weeks later and there are no assignments for December listed or graded in the system and the missing assignments that my daughter turned in weeks ago are still showing as missing. Her grade is still a D. I'm concerned that the closer we get to report card time, we won't have clarity on where she stands with her grade since they're not being put in for weeks at a time. She's a really good student and does well in her classes, so she's also concerned about her grades. I've emailed the teacher with no response. The principal said that she would "handle it." But we're not getting any movement. Am I being unreasonable in wanting grades updated more than once every 3 weeks? This class is only 1 quarter long, so we only have until the end of January to resolve this.
