We did it last year. It was two families with kids and we couldn't imagine staying on a boat with them. It was GREAT. Highly recommend. That way you have freedom in the mornings and afternoons to hang out in the cute little towns, play soccer on the beach, chat with some sea lions, get ice cream from the local shops, etc. We used a tour company and highly recommend doing that because it can be pretty complicated figuring out all the logistics otherwise (we are a family that usually never uses a tour company)

Hi. Has anyone done a land based Galapagos trip? If so, did you use a tour operator that you would recommend or specific hotels to stay at?
