My grandpa liked cruise bargains with port heavy activities. So we never went on cruises where we met people or with kid-friendly amenities.

We went on a Yugoslavian cruiseline to some great ports. An elderly alcoholic divorced American man waa seated at our dining table for our Greek Isles cruise that left from Venice. Guests were mostly Germans.

It was fine. Don't worry about it.

If your kids are happy to play cards/games and enjoy sightseeing they will be fine. They likely will feel like the youngest people on board no matter what. We did Tauck with the grandparents. My MS age kids were fine.

We did AMA on the Rhine with a teen and it was nice. It was mostly older people but there was a mix, including a family or two with elementary-aged kids.

They had lots of options for excursions— you could bike or hike or do a walking tour or a limited mobility walking tour.

I would check out the river cruising forum on cruisecritic— you can get a lot of helpful info there on different cruise lines.

Tauck is unavailable during our dates, and you have to be 18 for Viking. Anyone have experience with Uniworld, AMA, or other companies that do these trips? We dont need ‘kid-friendly’ activities but I dont want them to feel like the only kids among a bunch of graybeards, either. Thanks!
