They definitely take gap years. It’s common at Ivies for coach to tell them they would take them after a gap.

Most kids who play travel soccer in the DMV are from affluent families who live in competitive school districts. It’s hard to imagine many kids turning down 4-year colleges to play JUCO. I imagine most will go to the best school they can get into and just play club.

This Could be very helpful if they play in a decent JUCO league as well as knock out some 101 classes to lighten the load down the road. They could get a leg up over flakey college freshmen.
