I’m going to say, and this is someone who has lived in two different Asian countries for years, so I enjoy exotic travel, that you should consider Orlando and one of the Marriott or other vacation club properties there.

Reasons: warm, direct flights, can have a two bedroom suite with bedroom doors and a kitchen, good for naps and things and different bedtimes.

Lots of things to do in FL for a week. Of course Disney, but you don’t have to do any of that.

Would fit the $8k budget for the week, w flight, room, and food and activities.

They're not going to miss much learning at that age if you take them out of school.

Sure but I think the point is that they have to take off work that week to care for their kids anyway.

Or in OP’s case, take off work to pay someone else to take care of their kids who are already in full time care.

If you don't want to fly the family to Asia again, what about flying one of the relatives to whatever destination you decide on to meet you there and help with the kids?

So much drama.

I might be the odd one out, but I’d say with kids at those ages. I would just do some day trips or maybe a quick overnight. It’s not going to be relaxing unless you spend a ton of money in a ton of time planning and even then maybe not.

DC to Asia for 1 week with such little kids? LOL.

The oldest is three. It’s ok for her to miss school so they can take a few extra days .

None of the resort kids clubs things are going to work for you so you need to look for places where you can hire a nanny.

franklyn d resort or (more expensive) Bluefields in the Jamaica both include nannies. You may have to go for less than 8-10 days with your budget.

Are you looking for care for both kids? Its going to be hard with a 1 year old and that budget during peak season.

DW and I want to go on vacation with our DCs (ages 3 and 1) to somewhere that has some level of kiddie care/non-parentally supervised activities for our kids during our PK3er's spring break.

General parameters: Ideally, it should be warm in mid-April. My wife is against cruises for reasons I'm not clear on. The destination should have a nonstop flight from DCA, IAD or BWI. DW and I have been all over the world, but before the kids. Our babysitter will be on her own vacation. We went to Asia to visit my in-laws with the kids a few months after our second child was born, and with the family support, it was enjoyable.

I'm not going to say money doesn't matter, but if we drop $10k on the 8-10 day trip and it's a good trip, I won't mind.

Any ideas?
