Because Opens are a PITA and a lot of work. AAC hosted an Open last year down in Prince William Co (AAC is located in Arlington), so no where near their practice pools.
One of the great things about PVS is that they hold Opens, which means every club has a meet each month if they are not hosting their own or are not invited to an invitational. They are also less money to attend than an invitational.
Most Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) do not do this, which is why you have USA Swimming trying out things like Block Parties to get kids opportunities to swim in meets. We are very fortunate to have Opens, which means clubs need to host and more importantly all the posters on here need to volunteer for the meets that their kids are swimming in.
Does PVS randomly select hosts if they don't have any clubs volunteer?

It will probably be largely the same- possibly some changes to which teams are at which sites depending on numbers from last year but I would expect that the timing and events would be virtually if not completely identical.[/quote]
Thanks! I also checked out the data from 2022 and 2023, and it looks like there are some small differences in hosts and events on certain days. Here’s the link for reference: https://www.pvswim.org/2223meet/23-50-ma.pdf. Do you know if the hosts will go back to the 2022-2023 schedule? Also, when do hosts usually post meet announcements?
