Never had any. Have just paid the rare times we’ve needed it. Don’t need to insure things you can easily afford.

My farm bureau insurance covers local and travel, and will cover trailers/animals which AAA will not.

I managed to lock myself out of my car with the motor running one winter day a few decades ago when I was traveling in Philadelphia, and AAA got there plenty quick, thankfully.

Road side assistance with your car insurance is the most cost effective way to do it if most of your driving is local and you don’t own 10 cars. It is just $15-20 per year per car. I used mine quite a lot in DMV over the years for jump starts, lockouts, running out of gas, towing. If I was planning a trip to a remote location I would probably get AAA.

AAA it covers the person (i.e. drivers) no matter what car htey drive, even a rental car or driving a firend's car. The roadside from auto insurance covers the specific car. Depending on your family, one may work better than the other.

The police have a contract with towing comapnies so each one is on call for a certain block of tiem each week, and that includes a defined response time. It ensures there is always a tow company to call any time day or night if there's an accident they need cleared. However, those tow companies aren't necessarily cheap and the vehicle owner pays.

how does this work? You just call the police and ask for a tow? I didn't know this was a thing. How much is the tow?

AAA, it's great! It feels almost too good to be true considering how much we've used them.

AAA. I can’t remember what I pay but I also have 5 drivers on our membership.

I’ve always been happy with them.

And of course, how much do you pay

NOT included with car insurance. Basically I'm looking for jump starts, tire, towing if needed.
