We’ve given away things like this on Buy Nothing. We can’t eat dairy and keep getting gift cards for places that are all cheese and cream.

Our neighborhood is mixed between fancy houses (families) and shabby (struggling grad students) and we have fun sending students on a nice night out.

Donate the money to the restaurant by trashing the card, or give it to a member of the staff, who can figure out how to use it.

People would love it I would think.

We just left a high-end resort and due to our status with that chain had been given multiple drink tickets upon check in. We didn't use them all so we gave them to people we saw on our way out. (They weren't tied to our room our account or anything, they were just printed cards).

School auction is a great idea, if they won’t expire too soon.

Most people can find something they like at an Italian restaurant, it sounds like you’re very picky. Personally l would never assume people dislike all Italian food, so l don’t think the gift giver wasn’t being thoughtful. Is the place not open for lunch?

When I got gift cards like this that were for someplace nice and I knew I did not have the time/desire to use (Red Door comes to mind), I just gave them to those working on baskets for the school auction.

That would be so weird I would refuse to take them from you if you approached me in a parking lot. Super creepy.

The place is over $100 a person, so I don’t want to pass them along, to be honest. It’s like giving a gift without batteries. At least this way, I know the person already anticipated dropping that kind of cash. I’m not opposed to random acts of kindness around the holidays, either.

We received two $50 gift cards to a high-end Italian restaurant. We have young kids and can’t dine with them, the GCs aren’t valid for takeaways, and we just have no interest in having a date night at this location because, for one, we don’t like Italian, and would undoubtedly need to add more money to dine here. All this to say, how weird would it be to randomly present these to someone in the parking lot and tell them (part of) dinner is on us!
